An avid reader, supposed movie buff and wannabe writer, interested in (Victorian) literature, period/fantasy/thriller/action/superhero movies, comic books and mythology.

You can always count on me reblogging: Marvel (mostly Loki and Thor, and X-Men), Sherlock, Tolkien, Supernatural, DC Comics, various villains and thrillers/crime movies, stuff about writing, mythology and a bunch of other cool things.

“The night I was cast, I went out and bought The Empire Strikes Back and Jaws. My goals were to get a voice as sinister as Darth Vader and the menacing physicality of the shark. It’s so easy to take these big beasts – these ferocious characters – and cook them at ten the whole time. But I wanted to have this circling, steady presence that would suddenly attack randomly. Peter allowed me to make a lot of adjustments. Being a Maori, in the scene where I’m beating up Thorin, I rocked back on my warg, raised my eyes up and did this look that in the Maori world is called ‘pukana’. You show the enemy the whites of your eyes. It just happened instinctively and at the end of the take I said, “Peter, I think I pukana-ed!” I didn’t think he’d use it, but sure enough, when I went down to the premiere with a bunch of Maori friends, there it was.”

We Bagginses were very well thought of. Never had any adventures or did anything unexpected.

I love the piano. I love the cello. I also love the score from LoTR and The Hobbit. Mush all that together, and you have a beautiful piece from The Piano Guys [x].

Reasons to love Thranduil:  Fatherhood;
” They [elves] had few children, but these were very dear to them. Their families, or houses, were held together by love and a deep feeling for kinship in mind and body; and the children needed little governing or teaching. “

↳ The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey

For there were other Elves of various kind in the world; and many were Eastern Elves that had hearkened to no summons to the Sea, but being content with Middle-earth remained there, and remained long after, fading in fastnesses of the woods and hills, as Men usurped the lands. Of that kind were the Elves of Greenwood the Great; yet among them also were many lords of Sindarin race. Such were Thranduil and Legolas his son.
